Activities during the month of August:

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:

We are now entering the summer months, the church recognizes that there will be many who will be taking vacation.  If you are scheduled for a particular time and cannot make it, PLEASE contact the office before Thursday Morning so we can find a replacement.  419-422-9398.

It becomes very difficult and frustrating to scramble on Sunday morning to find replacements.

Serving the Lord

Sunday the 8^th of August the Church will be giving you and opportunity to serve the Lord.  We will be taking up an offering (that will be supplemented by the Spiritual Care Commission and Mennonite Mutual Aid) for Tressel Menardi and Tiffany Kerfoot.  As you remember, Tressel will be having open-heart surgery on the 16^th of August in Cincinnati.   There are a lot of expenses that insurance does not cover such as travel, meals for the parents, and hotel costs; we will be helping to supplement some of their expenses.

Tiffany Kerfoot lost her husband to a tragic auto accident a few weeks ago.  We will be providing a gift for her and her children in honor of Nick.

Mission’s Commission

Mexican Feast.

Saturday August 14^th.  At the First UB Fellowship Hall. 6:00 in the Evening.  Plan to attend and get authentic Mexican food. If the goal is met that Ron discussed on Sunday Morning, Pastor Dunten will sing a Spanish song, Pastor Chet will play a Spanish guitar, and Ron Atkins will dance around a sombrero. Donations accepted.

Softball Tournament

We are now forming a softball team for a United Brethren Tournament at Mt. Zion church on Labor Day.  If you are interested, please sign up on the communication table.

Mud Hens game.

How about a Mud Hen’s game?  Check your calendars to see if Wednesday, August 11 is open.  The Toledo Mud Hens will be playing Louisville.  If we get 25 UBer’s to sign up, the cost will be $8 per ticket.  Sign up on the communication table.

New Sunday School Class

Here and Now...There and Then by Beth Moore is an 11-session lecture series on the book of Revelation. Beth presents many points of view, allowing women to decide for themselves when the interpretation varies among scholars. She teaches that God is as specific about what He does reveal as He is about what He does not reveal.

The Listening Guide is a soft cover book for note taking during the teaching sessions. It also has one homework assignment for each week. Cost: $9.00/ student.  Please see Sue Atkins to order your copy.

Study will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the Womens' SS Classroom beginning August 1.

Men’s group has moved.

The Saturday morning men’s group has moved to the church fellowship hall.  One man a week will be in charge of making breakfast for those who attend.  They will continue to study the Man in the Mirror study.  All men are welcome.
